More importantly, he pledged government support for Master Michael Offorkaile’s university education, ensuring that outstanding performance becomes the beginning of greater opportunities rather than the end of recognition. Governor Peter Mbah equally celebrated Chimdiebube’s extraordinary international
achievement, commending the young champion, his teacher, and Evergreen Schools for proving that children from the Southeast can compete successfully with the very best anywhere in the world. He reaffirmed that Enugu’s Smart Green Schools initiative is designed to give every child the opportunity to discover and maximize his or her potential.

Although these events occurred independently, together they reveal something much larger. They signal the emergence of a new educational renaissance across Southeast Nigeria. For generations, the Igbo people have been globally recognized for their enterprise, resilience, creativity, and unwavering belief in education as the greatest instrument of personal and societal advancement. Across Igbo communities, parents have long regarded education as the most enduring inheritance they can give their children.

Today, that cultural philosophy is being reinforced by public policy.
Governments across the Southeast are increasingly recognizing that the prosperity of the twenty-first century will not be determined primarily by natural resources but by the quality of human capital they produce.
This explains the unprecedented investments being made in educational transformation throughout the region. Education is no longer viewed simply as classroom instruction. Both Abia and Enugu are demonstrating this new thinking. Under Governor Peter Mbah, Enugu State is implementing the ambitious Smart Green Schools initiative, designed to create digitally enabled learning environments where
Technology, innovation, sustainability, and modern pedagogy prepare learners for the future rather than the past.

Similarly, under Governor Alex Otti, Abia State has embarked on one of Nigeria’s most ambitious Smart School programmes. The state is systematically introducing digitally equipped schools that integrate interactive learning technologies, STEM education, robotics, Artificial Intelligence, digital learning platforms, and twenty-first-century teaching methodologies.

Following the successful commissioning of the Ogbo Smart School in Ubakala, Abia State is preparing to commission yet another completed Smart School at Umuomaiukwu in Isiala Ngwa North Local Government Area, further expanding the state’s network of future-ready learning institutions.
