ABIA STATE UNIVERSAL BASIC EDUCATION BOARD (ASUBEB) – EXECUTIVE CHAIRMAN (2016 – 2019)
As the Executive Chairman of the Abia State Universal Basic Education Board, NWOSU KENECHUKWU held a prominent position as the overall head of the establishment in Abia State. In this role, NWOSU KENECHUKWU provided visionary leadership to the Board members, directors, and departmental heads, overseeing the implementation of various programs and policies aimed at improving basic education in the state. Key responsibilities included leading a 13-member Board, coordinating the recruitment and management of over 15,000 teachers, building partnerships with donor agencies, and promoting community engagement to achieve the objectives of increasing performance in the state.
During NWOSU KENECHUKWU’s tenure, several notable achievements were accomplished, including attracting intervention counterpart funding for the construction, renovation, and equipping of schools in Abia State. This funding resulted in the execution of various infrastructure projects in schools across the state. NWOSU KENECHUKWU also successfully increased enrollment through strategic measures designed to bring out-of-school children back into the education system. Additionally, NWOSU KENECHUKWU spearheaded advocacy programs for girl child education and constructed the first ultra-modern Universal Basic Education Model Schools in Nigeria (4 in number) among other notable achievements.
